When I hear this song, I always think of it being the soundtrack to two lovers making love for the first time. It’s not because this song is terribly romantic. In fact, it’s the opposite: the song invokes feelings of danger and unease - the feeling of entering unknown territory. The same feeling one would get from seeing an approaching hurricane in the distance; the deafening silence and intense stillness in between that makes you feel both scared and alive.

That’s how the lovers feel in the song. What they have is so powerful, so strong; yet, they have no idea what will happen next. They have never been more excited and more afraid in their lives. All they have, their only comfort, is the immediacy of each others embrace. They have no choice but to live and love completely and totally in the moment.

It’s often in the dark unknown where we find the most meaning in life.

Ramblings, Part Deux.

I’ve just been informed that I need to continue typing in my inebriated state.
This Is Informative, You Should Watch It of the Day: New Left Media’s Chase Whiteside interviews attendees at Glenn Beck’s non-political “Restoring Honor” rally in DC.

[thanks cody!]

Quite an interesting video. I like how New Left let the attendees speak without trying to hamfist everything into a Left vs. Right paradigm.

As I mentioned before, this band made the unfortunate decision to leave 90% of their best songs untethered to physical medium, floating around in the vast abyss of cyberspace. Of course, this was quite frustrating for people like me who valued album-ownership over downloading.

However, with the band’s recent greatest hits album, some of their more obscure gems have been solidified and remastered.

Enjoy!

I discovered this soundtrack when I was working in the music...

I discovered this soundtrack when I was working in the music section at Indigo Books in Toronto. My boss was such a hard-ass regarding the music I would play in the store. Everything had to be “Indigo Friendly”, a term I learned to despise because “Indigo Friendly” more or less meant “The Wrath of God Upon You Should This Album Contain An Electric Guitar”.

I wound up playing this soundtrack a lot because it was one of the few “approved” albums that didn’t totally suck. This song became my favourite as the melody perfectly captured the slow, tired, walking-wounded feeling I would get an hour before closing time.

Smooth With The Ladies.

So I was walking home from work tonight when a cute girl pulled up to me on her motorcycle.
